ASL Classes

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE [ASL] 1 – 2

 

Grades 9 – 12 [UC] [CSU]

A first-year class designed to develop limited facility in the basic structure and use of sign language. Students will also study the culture, values, beliefs, behaviors, and common world view found among Deaf people.

 

Textbook: Learning American Sign Language

 

 

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE [ASL] 3 – 4

 

Grades 9 – 12 [UC] [CSU]

Prerequisite:Complete ASL 1-2 with a C or better

 

A second-year class designed to further develop facility in the basic structure and use of sign language. Students will continue to study the culture, values, beliefs, behaviors, and common world view found among Deaf people.

 

Textbook: A Basic Course in ASL

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE [ASL] 5 – 6

 

Grades 9 – 12 [UC] [CSU]

Prerequisite:Complete ASL 3-4 with a C or better

 

A third-year class designed to analyze and develop an in-depth understanding of the structure and use of sign language. Students will continue to expand their awareness of the culture, values, beliefs, behaviors, and common world view found among Deaf people in an interactive and engaging way.
